Incorporating the Victron Energy MultiPlus Inverters Offers Unique AC/DC Power Source
MIAMI, FL – FEBRUARY 17-21, 2011– Fischer Panda US in collaboration with Victron Energy, will introduce a new hybrid power solution for cruisers and sailboats at the Miami International Boat Show today with the unveiling of Fischer Panda’s AGT 5000 DC marine generator using Victron’s sine wave inverters.
The 5kW, 12V Panda AGT 5000 offers a directly driven, highly efficient DC onboard charging solution to keep batteries fully charged. While operating as a redundant system, inverters can be used to distribute power to run equipment directly from the battery bank without needing to start the generator.
In situations requiring less AC power, or where high inductive motors are not required onboard, the AGT 5000 is an efficient and effective way to quickly charge batteries. The benefits include using less fuel, creating less noise and resulting in less maintenance.
“The AGT 5000 is also designed to run on auto-mode, monitoring the battery bank and providing the correct charge when needed,” said Chad Godwin, Fischer Panda’s US Sales and Marketing Director. “AGT generators, depending on the performance, voltage and amperage, can weigh up to 50% less than a conventional generator and are up to 30% smaller.”
The AGT 5000’s robust, freshwater cooled Kubota engine produces a continuous output of 240 amps with a peak output of 272 amps to maintain a high rate of charge throughout the charging cycle.
Once batteries are fully charged, the generator automatically shuts down and allows inverters to produce AC current in either 120 or 120/240 applications, typically providing enough power to cook, run air conditioners, wash clothes or make water.
If power demands exceed the battery banks capacity, the AGT 5000 will automatically start to charge and replenish the batteries—a seamless partnership to meet power requirements. When batteries run down, inverters can be set to auto start the AGT 5000, which will monitor and provide the appropriate charge.

About Fischer Panda
Through its standard line of innovative water cooled generators– ranging from 4 kW to 22 kW– Fischer Panda Generators US has provided hundreds of solutions for both sail and powerboat manufacturers and owners throughout America and beyond.
Fischer Panda Generators employs the latest in German engineering to manufacture the smallest, lightest, quietest and most efficient marine diesel generators in the world. Many consider Fischer Panda Generators to be the most advanced marine generator systems ever produced.
Fischer Panda’s DP designated generators feature a remote “smart panel” diagnostic system that will continuously monitor performance, alerting captains and owners to general maintenance, adjustment and troubleshooting issues.
As the only true 100% water-cooled asynchronous generators on the market, Fischer Panda stands apart from the competition. No other cooling system is more efficient. The Fischer Panda generator can cool the stator winding with nearly 100% efficiency due to the unique design of the asynchronous rotor that has no windings, no brushes or diodes. A conventional synchronous generator, on the other hand, can never achieve this level of efficiency because the rotor windings are cooled with air. That same air is very hot and transfers considerable noise. The air also carries humidity and dirt into the windings, which increases the resistance and thereby reduces electrical output.
In 1978 in Germany, Fischer Generators developed the quietest diesel generator in the world. That trend towards small, quiet and super efficiency was to continue, and in 1988, Fischer Generators added “Panda” to its brand and introduced its proprietary and water-cooled, asynchronous electric plant. Fischer Panda US, which began operations in 1995, is located at 4345 NE 12 Terrace in Oakland Park, Florida.
